The entire acoustic concept of the Sound-Resonance Therapy (SRT) room is designed to recreate the comfortable acoustic atmosphere of a coniferous forest within a compact space while simultaneously enhancing the therapeutic effects of Healingbowl® singing bowls. This innovative approach combines precise acoustic engineering with natural principles to create an optimal environment for recovery processes.

Details of the engineering solution

The main elements of the complex include a specialized table for placing singing bowls (1), a couch (2), and precisely calculated elements of acoustic design. These include: a parametric mirror, a relief solid wood wall, stepped aperiodic diffusers, and Helmholtz resonators. All components are meticulously handcrafted from selected wood using environmentally friendly materials. Each element is individually calculated specifically for the selected or designed space.

The proportions and geometry of the room are carefully chosen to ensure maximum uniform modal characteristics. The absence of sound-absorbing materials prevents energy loss during sound reproduction, while all acoustic structures are based exclusively on sound diffusion.

Acoustic design elements

The front wall, made of solid wood or special plywood, has a concave design that directs the sound and vibration energy of Healingbowl® towards the client. The central massive hemisphere facilitates uniform sound distribution throughout the entire space. Sound waves reflected from the central hemisphere are directed not only towards the client but also to the diffusive panels located on the side walls and ceiling. These panels create a uniform diffuse field throughout the room.

Aperiodic stepped diffusers are precisely calculated using a specialized mathematical model. These complex acoustic elements create an impressive sound effect, giving the listener the sensation of being in a much larger space. The sound reflected from these diffusers reaches the listener with a certain delay. This delayed reflection significantly enhances the perceived spaciousness of the room, creating the illusion of greater volume.

Corner bass traps are designed as aesthetically pleasing slatted panels. Inside these panels is a complex system of acoustic membranes specifically developed to combat the formation of standing waves in the room. This ingenious solution ensures that while low frequencies are absorbed by the internal acoustic membranes, mid and high frequencies interact with the panel surface differently. They reflect off the slats without energy loss, creating a balanced acoustic environment.

Acoustic panels with a unique pattern are located between the aperiodic stepped diffusers. The pattern is specially designed to disperse mid and high frequencies. These panels are covered with acoustically transparent fabric.

The panel design ensures effective sound dispersion throughout the room while maintaining structural integrity and an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The use of acoustically transparent fabric allows sound waves to interact freely with the panel's dispersing elements.

The large parametric mirror performs two main functions: creating an optimal acoustic environment and generating a unique visual effect. The structure of the mirror's lamellae reflects light between its elements, expanding the perceived space and enhancing the interior's aesthetics. The lamella pattern is created using a modified QRD (Quadratic Residue Diffuser) formula based on Schroeder's principles. This pattern forms a two-dimensional diffuse field within the room.

This creates a natural acoustic environment in a confined space, similar to that found in a pine forest.
