Practices in Tibetan monasteries

Our cherished friends — the lamas and monks of the Mustang Kingdom — extend a warm welcome to us at the Pema Tsal Sakya Monastery Institute. We are privileged to practice in the monastery’s main hall at a time that suits us, and special ceremonies will be performed just for our group. In Tibetan Buddhism, pujas serve a dual purpose: they are profound meditation practices that quiet and focus the mind, as well as sacred rituals aimed at fostering universal well-being.

These opportunities are available at several Tibetan monasteries.

Arrival: You must arrive in Kathmandu a day before the programme starts.

Cost: USD 2,500.

Included:

  • Participation in the programme.

  • Accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara (including breakfast).

Not included: we recommend considering the option to make donations at monasteries. This is not regulated.

Training programme schedule:

Day 1:
- Puja at the Amitabha Monastery, meditation, programme session.
- Introduction to Healingbowl® bowls, visit to the workshop.

Day 2: 
Visit to Parping:
- Asura Cave (service).
- Vajra Yogini Temple.
- Chapel with the self-manifesting image of Tara. 
Visit to Bodnath:
- Evening walk and meditation at the sacred site.

Day 3:
-​Transfer to Pokhara, check‑in at the hotel of the Pema Tsal Sakya Monastery‑Institute, acclimatisation, 
- evening session.

Days 4–6:
- Morning meditation (puja) at the monastery.
- Study sessions.
- Visit to the Japanese stupa.
- Sunrise over Annapurna.
- Spend some free time exploring Pokhara: wander through its scenic spots, pick up souvenirs, or browse trekking gear.

Day 7:
Morning session, travel back to Kathmandu.
